Fix Your Attitude
Changing your attitude will change your perspective. Being mindful of your thoughts, especially your self talk. What we say to ourselves is the number one shaper of our attitude.
Are you kind to yourself? You should be. You are a wonderful, unique child of the universe. That there is only one of you in this whole world is an amazing thing all by itself.
So how do you change your self talk?
Next time you have a negative thought remember what my guru Louise Hay said “It is just a thought and a thought can be changed.” Hold yourself accountable for these negative thoughts and then change them. You can change your thoughts. When you notice yourself saying something like “I’m so stupid.” stop. Say “I will not say bad things to myself.” and say it out loud!
Gratitude is an excellent way to turn your attitude around. It also holds you accountable for what you’re feeling. Are things really that bad? Simply counting your blessings; you woke up, you can see, you have a place to live, food to eat is enough to be grateful for and it will almost immediately shift your focus to positivity. Start the habit of writing in a daily journal at least 7 things you are grateful for each night before you go to bed. From the butterfly you saw in the garden to your paycheck embrace all that life has given you. I guarantee you will see a positive change in your life. Gratitude will change your perspective like changing the window through which you see the world. When you change your perspective you can change how you feel about it.
Consider talking to a therapist who can help you see some of the subtle ways your attitude is being shaped by negative or unrealistic thoughts and theories.
