Boosting your personal empowerment
We are all, or should be, works in progress. If you stop growing you start to stagnate, intellectually and socially. Working on your personal empowerment will help you continue to develop and progress in all aspects of your life. Here are some ways to work on your personal empowerment, as a woman:
Live your purpose
This is a big one. Many of us are still asking “what is my purpose in life?” and if you are not sure there’s no better time than now to find out.
Discovering your purpose will bring meaning and fulfillment to your life and improve the lives of those around you. To find your purpose spend some time on self-reflection. Identify your passions and explore your interests. What are your values? Consider injustices that bother you, and actively seek opportunities to use your talents and make a positive impact the world.
Know Who You Are
Know your strengths, what you’re good at, what you love doing, your core values and life beliefs. Examples of core values are; honesty, integrity, courage, etc. and what are the things that guide your more important life decisions and actions.
Love Yourself
To love someone else, you must first love yourself. “Warts and all.” as my Mom used to say. Be aware of your self talk and keep it positive. And love yourself by loving your body and keeping it healthy.
Keep Learning
Your education doesn’t end with a diploma. Learning doesn’t necessarily start or end in a classroom. Take learning into your own hands by finding a way to grow and develop each day. From reading books to developing new talents or even pursuing a new degree in a different field.
Be Confident
Take action with the things that are important to you, from self-care to political activism. Do the hard things. Ask for that raise or promotion Stand for what you believe in, including yourself.
Give
Give of your time and talents, not just your treasure. Help others succeed by mentoring or just sharing what you know with others.
Challenge the status quo
Live authentically and with integrity. Challenge the rules and norms, question traditions and speak your mind without fear.
Know your worth
You are perfect, just as you are. While self improvement should continue daily know that you are enough and understand your value. You deserve respect, a seat at the table, equal pay for equal work and opportunities to grow.
Becoming a more empowered woman means you are taking control of your own personal development.
